All first year engineering students are introduced to the Faculty and engineering through common first year courses. The curriculum is designed to give you a solid foundation and introduce you to the vast opportunities available in engineering. You'll not only increase your academic capacity, you'll also discover how your ideas can help shape the future. These classes provide the foundation for your future as an engineer and will help determine the engineering degree program you should enter in your second year.
First year engineering and architecture will provide you with the foundation of learning that the rest of your degree and career in the profession will build from.
It is also a great time of making life-long friends (and maybe future business partners!) learning the ropes of being a university student, finding your fit, and learning to be successful independent of the support structures you were used to.
In year 1, all students take 5-6 courses, mostly based in maths and sciences, along with a concepts course focused on giving you exposure to learning in your field of study.
Home / Departments / First Year Engineering First Year Engineering Department of Applied Science provides strong foundation to the students in First Year Engineering. In First Year Engineering, students get acquainted with wide range of subjects and gets hands on experience on various instruments. This inculcates confidence and makes them ready for the task ahead. First year engineering will help the students in inculcating fundamentals and to develop their logical and analytical skills, which will help them to prosper in SE, TE, BE and further in their carriers.
Department deals with various science subjects viz., Engineering Mathematics-I, II and III, Applied Physics, Engineering Chemistry and various basic engineering subjects viz., Basic Civil and Environmental Engineering, Basic Mechanical Engineering, Basic Electrical Engineering, Basic Electronics Engineering, Engineering Graphics and Computer Fundamentals
VISION : To contribute to MPCE and the society through excellence in basic technical education, and remain a source of pride for all MPCEians.
MISSION : To provide basic and fundamental technical knowledge by engaging in discipline and to promote academic growth by offering motivated teaching methodologies.
Department of Humanities & Applied Science has been established in 2008 and consists of four Sub Departments- (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Humanities). We are committed to serve the needs of various engineering branches by imparting fundamental knowledge of applied sciences along with grooming of basic skills through an effective teaching/learning environment. The staff members are very enthusiastic, dynamic and committed towards all the activities of the department.
Department provides an encouraging environment to develop the intellectual capacity, critical thinking, creativity and problem solving ability to students. We are always keen to offer students an academic experience of ‘critical thinking, learning and applying’.
Department also ensures the enrichment of technical skills, communication and soft skills of students through technical writing, oral communication . The first year department also closely associated with students through counseling and guidance for curricular, extracurricular activities etc.
First year department aims at grooming the overall personality of students by integrating education, skills, social responsibility, public service and values that are inculcated through a unique blend of sciences, engineering and humanities.
The Department acts as a bridge between the basic sciences and engineering procedures. Faculty in Humanities&Applied sciences offers high-quality basic courses to first-year undergraduate students to make them over to their concerned engineering disciplines for completing their required credits. Faculty members are highly qualified, rich in experience to cater to the needs of budding engineers, Curriculum workshops, examination/valuation section, etc.
